Google book search apparently helping sales

Interesting to see an article on the postive sales effect that Google's book search has had on the sales of books that are in the 'deep backlist', those being books that have been forgotten and likely on obscure subjects.

That's very interesting - best sales year yet - without any additional marketing. That is the problem I had with the authors claiming copyright infringement - it seemed the program would already help their sales - so why should google have to pay them. If they were to signifigantly higher sales and royalties from google - wouldn't this be somewhat of a windfall at google's expense?
